In this ancient capital, profound cultural heritage and the vibrant pulse of the modern era illuminate one another. In this beautiful season of carrying forward our legacy and embracing new opportunities, the 33rd Chinese Congress of Radiology (CCR 2026) will be grandly held in Beijing from November 19 to 22, 2026. As the curtain rises on this grand event, on behalf of the Chinese Society of Radiology (CSR) and the Organizing Committee, I would like to extend my deepest gratitude and highest respect to the leaders, experts, and friends from all walks of life who have long supported the development of radiology in China. Furthermore, I extend my warmest welcome to the domestic and international experts, scholars, fellow radiologists, young talents, and industry representatives who have traveled across mountains and seas to join us!

Radiology is woven into the entire continuum of health management and disease prevention, profoundly shaping the scientific rigor, efficacy, and precision of clinical decision-making. In recent years, driven by a new wave of technological revolution and evolving medical paradigms, breakthroughs have accelerated across cutting-edge frontiers such as artificial intelligence (AI), big data, multimodal and molecular imaging, radiomics, and medical-engineering cross-disciplines. These advancements are propelling radiology beyond morphological observation into functional and metabolic evaluation; transforming empirical judgments into quantitative analysis and intelligent decision-making; and expanding our focus from disease diagnosis to integrated theranostics and full-cycle health management. Radiology now stands at a pivotal juncture where innovative momentum is surging, disciplinary boundaries are expanding, and clinical value is being profoundly reshaped.

Time honors the enduring, and endeavor forges the extraordinary. The theme of this year's congress is “Intelligent Imaging Innovation, Empowering Strengthening the Grassroots Healthcare.” This theme not only responds to the historic opportunities brought by technological transformation but also embodies the fundamental mission of Chinese radiology: grounding ourselves in clinical practice to serve the people's health. “Intelligent Imaging Innovation” focuses on leveraging technological innovation to drive the deep integration of medical imaging with AI, information science, engineering, and life sciences. The true value of intelligent imaging lies not merely in algorithmic enhancements or technical breakthroughs, but in its ability to solve real clinical challenges, optimize workflows, elevate specialized care, and deliver tangible health benefits to patients. We must remain clinically driven, translating innovations from the laboratory to real-world applications, and moving from isolated breakthroughs to systemic synergy. By doing so, AI will truly become an extension of the radiologist's capabilities, a vital aid in clinical decision-making, and a pillar for improving healthcare quality and efficiency. “Empowering Strengthening the Grassroots Healthcare” emphasizes solidifying our clinical roots. The further our discipline advances toward the cutting edge, the more we rely on a robust clinical foundation, standardized quality systems, and a high-caliber talent pool. Standardized examinations and diagnoses, uniform management, full-process quality control, and continuous education are the bedrocks of high-quality radiological development. We must set our sights on global technological frontiers while simultaneously answering the needs of grassroots healthcare. Through standardized training, remote collaboration, intelligent assistance, and the sharing of premium resources, we will push advanced concepts and mature technologies down to the primary care level, ensuring that "data travels more, so patients travel less." By tangibly elevating grassroots diagnostic capabilities, we ensure the fruits of our progress benefit the broader population equitably and sustainably, fulfilling our duty to the national hierarchical diagnosis system and the "Healthy China" strategy. Innovation gives us the wings to soar, while a strong foundation gives us the strength to stand firm; the two are intrinsically linked and mutually reinforcing.
